Christmas time in Sélestat : under the stars

Year after year, Christmas remains the setting for a journey, for some religious, for others cultural, or simply both combined. Christmas is a time of celebration, a time of enchantment and hope, when everyone expresses themselves according to their own aspirations and gives free rein to their imagination.
And since 1521, Sélestat has been celebrating traditions around the fir tree, the emblem of the winter season and the city's humanist guest of honour.
In the midst of restful nature, the festive tree will display its finest finery, perfume the air around our exhibitions and proudly take pride of place in the squares.

The sun has just disappeared. In the last glimmers of its sunset, the fir tree shines before the big day when it will take pride of place at the heart of the festivities.
The night draws on. One by one, the stars come out. They carry us away in a whirlwind of constellations. But all these stars seem to revolve calmly around one of them, the North Star, the one that guides us by pointing us north.

Winter in Sélestad offers a journey under the stars, with seasonal stories here and flavours and emotions further afield, an invitation to take a trip away from it all, with themed stops in remarkable buildings and edifices to share with family and friends.
Street performers, musical ensembles, storytellers, craftspeople and designers will all be on hand to surprise visitors.

In the heart of the night, let yourself be guided
