Unprecedented in the history of the planet, the current climate and ecological crisis, caused mainly by human activity, requires us to take immediate action. A champion of adaptation, Homo sapiens has been able to cope with a succession of ice ages and warming periods. By documenting how ancient societies exploited natural resources and responded to environmental and climatic constraints, archaeology highlights the complexity of this relationship, which requires mutual understanding and, in times of crisis, leads to radical change.
Through 12 panels, the exhibition presents six instructive examples from human history: the end of the Ice Age, the advent of agriculture, forest exploitation, floodplains, etc., with their sometimes unexpected consequences.
Archaeology allows the younger generation to take a step back, spark new imaginations and take a different look at the present. This exhibition allows interaction with students on current environmental issues. It can be complemented by a visit to the Museum, particularly its prehistoric section, which has a wealth of exhibits related to the exhibition, as well as workshops offered in our educational guide: spear throwing, archaeology of fire, etc.
