Luggage
Strasbourg International Airport is one of the first French airports to subject luggage in the hold to 100% checking.
Prepare your luggage before you board.
To be taken into the cabin :
Laptop computers, video cameras, still cameras and film that may not be exposed to powerful X rays. Mind the maximum dimensions for hand luggage! (Lxwxh= 115 cm, 10 kg max.) At the screening point, put your hand luggage, jacket and the contents of your pockets into the baskets provided so as not to waste time going through the walk-through detector several times.
To be carried in the hold :
Sharp and blunt objects, including small nail scissors, nail files, pocket knives. Otherwise, you may have to leave them at the screening point!
Medical and cosmetic aerosols may be taken into the cabin, but tear gas canisters must be checked into the hold.
The same applies to hunting and sports firearms. These may weigh up to 5 kg and shall be securely packed and reported upon checking in.
The amount of luggage allowed in the hold varies as the airline and the flight class. In general, it should not exceed 20kg in Economy Class, 30kg in Business Class, and 15kg for charter flights. Lost or damaged bags

Make sure you retain your airline ticket with the baggage receipts attached. The representative company will need this ticket to deal with any problem concerning your baggage.
Unaccompanied children
Between the ages of four and eleven inclusive children may travel on their own as UMs (Unaccompanied Minors).
A UM must be accompanied to the check-in desk. He/she will be given a special UM bag to be kept throughout his/her trip. The childÕs flight ticket, identity documents, parentÕs authorisation to travel, an identity card to be filled in giving the name and address of the person collecting the child at the arrival airport, will be placed in the bag. The person collecting the child must present his/her own identity documents.
The child will be looked after by the airline staff who will accompany him/her during the embarkation and during the flight and on debarkation.
Persons with reduced mobility
When you book your tickets, remember to inform your airline or travel agent of:
Depending on the degree of independence and the flight time, preliminary medical consent may be required.
- The type of disability (reduced mobility, sight or hearing impairment etc.), the degree of assistance required and your special needs during the flight, in order to benefit from the services that are indispensable throughout your journey.
- The international code corresponding to the degree of assistance required in accordance with the international classification is:
- WCH R : (Wheelchair Ramp) You only need a wheelchair to cover longer stretches but can walk up stairs without any assistance.
- WCH S : (Wheelchair Steps) You cannot walk up stairs but can walk shorter distances on foot without assistance.
- WCH C : (Wheelchair Carry) You always need a wheelchair and cannot move around in the cabin without assistance. You have your own wheelchair with you.
- BLND : You are blind or your sight is impaired.
- DEAF : Deaf, hearing is impaired or deaf and dumb.
- DPNA : Person with intellectual or behaviour disorder who needs assistance.
As of 26 July 2008, any passenger with reduced mobility is entitled to the assistance described in European Regulation (EC) No; 1107/2006.
Definition
- “Disabled person or person with reduced mobility means any person whose mobility when using transports is reduced due to any physical disability (sensory or locomotor, permanent or temporary), intellectual disability or impairment, or any other cause of disability, or age, and whose situation needs appropriate attention and the adaptation to his or her particular needs of the service made available to all passengers”.

Quality indicators at Strasbourg International Airport
Assistance on departure:
- For departing pre-booked (by an airline or tour operator) PRM passengers at least 48 hours prior to flight departure :
£ 10 minutes waiting time for 90%
£ 20 minutes waiting time for 100%
- For departing non pre-booked PRM passengers within delays:
£ 30 minutes waiting time for 90%
£45 minutes waiting time for 100%
- For arriving pre-booked (by an airline or tour operator) PRM passengers at least 48 hours prior to flight departure:
95% immediately disembarked after the last passenger
100% disembarked within 5 minutes after the last passenger
- For arriving non pre-booked PRM passengers within delays:
90% disembarked within 10 minutes after the last passenger
100% disembarked within 15 minutes after the last passenger
- Can only be guaranteed if the passenger presents himself at least one hour before the scheduled departure of his plane at the check-in desk, or at least two hours before his plane is due to take off at the special PRM meeting point.
- If the above mentioned terms are not respected, the Strasbourg International Airport will make every reasonable effort to help passenger with reduced mobility board his flight in time but without guarantee of success.

Health formalities
Vaccinations may be required depending on the destination. Contact the airline or your vaccination centre.
Use of your telephone in the plane
For safety reasons and to avoid possible dangerous interference with the aircrafts navigation or communications systems, passengers are strictly forbidden to use mobile phones during the flight. Some airlines offer in-flight phones.
Similarly, the use of certain electronic equipment is forbidden during take-off and landing: Walkmen, cassette/CD players.
Tax refund
Tax refunds for items to be carried in the hold are to be obtained from Customs before the luggage is checked in.

The following items are prohibited both in the hold and in the cabin :
Cleaning products (wash power, bleach, lighter fuel), solvents, oxidisers, irritants, poisonous substances, acid (car batteries), radioactive material, magnets (compasses), explosives (ammunition, fireworks), inflammable substances (fuel oil, petrolÉ), chlorine, paint, pressurised containers, compressed gases (gas bottles, portable gas stovesÉ) aerosols (except perfumes, toilet products and medicines of less than 500 ml).
Shotguns, collectorsÕ and sporting guns may be authorised under special conditions. Check with your airline company.

Hypodermic needles are only allowed in the cabin on medical prescription; please warn the airline.
In conclusion :
place everything in the hold that could be considered as a weapon, even wrongly.REMINDER
NEVER ACCEPT A PARCEL OR BAG FROM A THIRD PARTY FOR ANY REASON WHATSOEVER. NEVER LEAVE YOUR BAGGAGE UNATTENDED EVEN FOR A FEW SECONDS.All unattended bags and parcels will be destroyed.
