Description of the system
In September 2002, Strasbourg International Airport set up collective and selective management of ordinary industrial waste.
The system, called STEED, Service de Tri Ecologique et Economique des Déchets (Environmental and economical waste sorting service) offers producers the means to sort ordinary industrial waste at its source.
The collection system that is in operation also offers appropriate solutions for the producers of the various types of hazardous industrial waste – doorstep collection of mixed hazardous industrial waste and used oil, doorstep collection of the light sources of major producers and centralisation of those of small producers by the departments of the Chamber of Commerce & Industry of Strasbourg and the Bas-Rhin, voluntary return points for cells etc. Collection guides are available to guide STEED members in the sorting of their waste:
